Psychiatrist and author Sharon Romm, M.D. is a nationally-known therapist specializing in the matters of the heart. She is breaking new ground in the psychotherapy of couples and older adults.

After earning an M.D. from Boston University, Dr. Romm specialized as a plastic surgeon, practicing at Georgetown University. She then decided to focus on other aspects of patients’ need to feel better about themselves. She trained in psychiatry at Harvard and now is on the faculty of the University of Washington. Over her career, Dr. Romm has received numerous awards for teaching and medical practice.

Dr. Romm is the former editor of Medical Heritage, author of The Changing Face of Beauty (Mosby, 1991), and The Unwelcome Intruder: Freud’s Struggle with Cancer (Praeger, 1983).

She has also contributed a dozen chapters to books and edited six collaborative books, and published over 100 articles in professional journals and popular press, including Vogue and The Washington Post.

Dr. Romm brings years of experience helping people create successful relationships, teaching and leading groups, and showing compassion for the loneliness of others.
