use Global Positioning System (GPS) units to locate hidden caches—
didn’t even exist. Now it’s the most popular new outdoor activity of the

The Joy of Geocaching is the first comprehensive guide to this exciting new game, offering plain-English
instructions to help anyone get started with geocaching, exclusive profiles of some of the world’s most
experienced geocachers and secrets of advanced geocaching.
More than just a game, geocaching is a remarkable new social phenomenon that has brought people from many
different backgrounds to a common purpose. The Joy of Geocaching takes the reader deep into the human side
of geocaching, with wonderful stories about how the pursuit of hidden treasure has helped people heal frayed
marriages, establish new friendships and even save lives.
Throughout, the authors emphasize that geocaching is a wholesome outdoor activity that brings family and
